The unveiling of Samsung’s Galaxy S24 is imminent, promising to pioneer the future of AI phones ahead of Apple

Samsung Electronics is set to unveil its first artificial intelligence (AI) smartphone, the Galaxy S24 series, on January 18. The announcement will take place at the Galaxy Unpacked 2024 event scheduled for 10 a.m. (local time) on January 17 in San Jose, California, USA.

A notable feature of the Galaxy S24 series is the introduction of Galaxy AI, Samsung’s new brand encompassing its mobile AI experience. The company has teased this feature with the campaign slogan “Galaxy AI is coming.”

One confirmed feature of Galaxy AI is real-time call translation, facilitating natural communication in one’s native language with foreigners through automatic translation during conversations.

Although additional features of Galaxy AI have not been disclosed, speculation has arisen based on the leak of the expected operating system, “One UI 6.1.” The Galaxy S24 is rumored to include a 150x zoom camera utilizing Galaxy AI to enhance image quality through software-corrected digital zoom. Other anticipated features include AI-driven photo and video editing, AI-generated wallpapers, auto-completion of bullet points in notes, and improved battery life management.

Samsung aims to lead the AI phone market with the Galaxy S24, equipped with advanced technology from the application processor (AP) to the AI model determining AI performance. Depending on the model and release region, the AP will combine Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 and Samsung’s Exynos 2400, signaling Samsung’s confidence in its return of Exynos to the Galaxy S series after two years.
